Intervju med Cyclingbuddy.com

Av en slump snubblade vi över cykelcommunityn Cyclingbuddy.com och ville höra mer, därför kontaktade vi upphovsmannen och storchefen Tony Piedade för att kolla vad det handlade om.

So Tony, tell us about Cyclingbuddy.com.

Cyclingbuddy.com is a very simple site that allows members to find other members to cycle with.  Getting a bike and all the gear is only the beginning of keeping cycling at the centre of having an active life.  Finding someone to cycle with keep you more interested in cycling.  Together you can cycle further and discover new routes.  Staying motivated is a big bonus of having a cycling buddy, together you keen each other motivated to get out there on the bike, specially when the weather might be a little challenging.

The CyclingBuddy community is an active community of cyclists.  No matter what kind of bike you have, Road, Mountain Bike or even an Electric bike, you all have a home on our site.  With members now in 18 countries and over 1,000,000 miles logged, you are bound to find someone near you to cycle with.  The website is completely FREE and has some really neat features like the ability to log your miles, plan and share your routes, forums, weight tracker ( for those looking to use cycling to get fit.).

How did you come up with the idea?

I first launched joggingbuddy.com for runners, that is a successful site with members in over 118 countries. I figured if we can do that for runners, we could do that for cyclists.

What´s Cyclingbuddy´s goal?

Our goal is to help people get into cycling and stay in cycling for the long term by introducing them to people in their local area with similar fitness goals.  We want to be able to do this across the globe, uniting cyclists into one destination website.

I know that almost every member is from United Kingdom but are you also coming to Sweden?

We launched in the UK first so there is a dominance of UK members, but we are rapidly growing in other markets.  We now have members representing 18 countries. We would love to have more members from Sweden and we are grateful to talkofbike.com for helping to spread the word.

Speaking of Sweden you  used to live here, tell us about that.

I spent some time in Uppsala when I was younger and worked in the Fitness industry.  I loved my time there.  I also got to travel and see more of your beautiful country including spending time up in the very north in a place called Kiruna.  For many years I went back to ski in Vemdallen- still one of my favourite places to Ski.

Ok, thank you for your time and good luck in the future.

Thank you !
